

Basic First Aid
For the Community & Workplace


Basic first aid is the immediate care given to the injured or suddenly ill. It is designed to teach students how to provide care until competent medical professionals arrive. In this course the student will learn to care for persons suffering from bleeding, fractures, shock, burns and other injuries. The student will be come familiar with medical emergencies and care concerning diabetes, asthma, stroke, poisonings, and other common medical illnesses. This course meets all national and state requirements for first aid training, and is approved by the Ohio Dept of Job & Family Services for Child Care Providers. Both ADULT and PEDIATRIC care is covered. Certification is provided through the nationally recognized American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).
We offer BFA in 2 course formats: 1) A 4 hour course that provides a 2 year certification. 2) A 6 hour course that provides a 3 year certification. Either course may be taken by anyone needing first aid.
Childcare Workers:
ODJFS requires childcare renewals take a minimum of 3 hours which is combined into our 4-Hr Basic First Aid course. (You must attend all 4 hours but will receive a 3 year certification.) We will ask at class time to be sure you receive the proper certification.
